Viva Glam Gaga Lipstick

Labels: ,

My boyfriend treated me to some Mac cosmetics the other day so I decided to pick some lipsticks I've had my eyes on.

This one's Viva Glam Gaga (pink) and there's been a lot of talk on how bright it is and whether it would suit certain skintones. It has a blueish tint and I was told it wouldn't look right on me in one Mac store but I ended up leaving due to poor service anyway. After trying it in another Mac store (with much better service!) it looked fine so it's now happily residing in my make up bag. :)

I'm Vietnamese/Chinese and therefore have olive skin but if you don't layer it on too much this shade isn't as extreme as people may think - since it has a lustre finish. Applying lip balm beforehand helps tone it down too. Just be sure to keep everything else simple! I wear mine with brown pencil eye liner (top), silver eye liner (bottom), subtle gold eye shadow and bronze/pink blush.

Also, the proceeds go to a good cause. Yaaaay~

....thought I'd post my favourite ceramic designs here for general reference. They're really wonderful!

^ I would love to own this one. It reminds me of Brian Froud's designs. ^

^ I think this one in particular has great character. ^

I wonder how much they cost...?

Classical Nostalgia

Labels:

I used to play the cello back in school and also play the piano as a hobby. Music theory always put me off so I used to wing my way through lessons by memorising the songs and pretending to read the score lol. As a result, I had a tendency to play songs I like but now I regret not paying more attention and learning properly in order to progress. Listening to classical music and watching performances always bring a pleasant form of nostalgia and I wish to pick it up again when I start working and can afford lessons.

Here are some classical versions of popular songs I've discovered recently:

I'm not sure if this is a cover of anything but I've always had a soft spot for it:

If you like these then there are also more I uploaded previously here.

The following links are covered by St. Martin's Symphony of Los Angeles:
• They did an interesting take on 'Poker Face' . It almost sounds like an epic film soundtrack, hehe.
String version of Metallica's 'Nothing Else Matters'. Sounds so beautiful~
Orchestral version of 'S.O.S.', ABBA starts off well but gets a little cheesy afterwards.

I could spam this post with so many vids but I'll stick to interesting covers for now to keep it nice and organised. ;)

Kara Tointon: Don't Call Me Stupid

Over the past year I've been increasingly curious as to whether my secret struggles may have been down to dyslexia. Having been completely undetected and mostly ignored throughout education I decided to take it into my own hands to get around it. This BBC documentary really helped clarify and comfort me so I've posted it here for reference. :)

My sister shared these videos and some other fashion designers I might like. It's so intriguing! And would translate into concept design so, so well.

Costumes in Films

Here's a collection of costumes/creatures I've always found memorable either for their distinctive shapes or how they embody the character itself.

^ Lulu's technically from a game but oh well!

Also, I've finished decorating the cover of the book so here are some photos!

^ The back has a pattern designed for me by Mike Corriero.
I've always liked it so I stuck it on. :)

Brene Brown: The Power of Vulnerability

I really enjoyed this talk by Brene Brown and thought I'd share it here:

I also agree with a lot of Sir Ken Robinson's talks on education. My experiences in education have been disappointing but I'm trying to put it all behind me so I can move on.

They're linked here anyway, should anyone be interested. They're definitely worth listening to:
